Earth Day 2014: Building Green Cities

  • -

In the fall of 2013, Earth Day Network launched the Green Cities campaign.  Focused on three key elements – buildings, energy, and transportation – the campaign aims to help cities accelerate their transition to a cleaner, healthier, and more economically viable future through improvements in efficiency, investments in renewable technology, and regulation reform.

“We applaud these initiatives” said Dr. Alexandre Pavlovski, President and CEO of Green Power Labs.  “We agree that communities have a vital role to play in securing and shaping a more reliable and greener energy future.”

To support this effort, Green Power Labs built SolarRating Online, a free online tool that brings a homeowner to their rooftop.  Then through a series of interactive and educational steps, it helps homeowners   determine just how solar friendly their rooftop is.

“Whether a home owner is considering a photovoltaic system to generate electricity or a solar thermal system for heating domestic hot water, SolarRatingOnline gives a first level understanding of the role solar technologies might play in a home’s energy mix.”

Pavlovski concluded “SolarRating Online is easy and free to use. And no sales person will call! Perhaps a visit to SolarRating Online at www.solarrating.ca  might be  a fun way for your family to spend some time  on April 22, Earth Day 2014.”
