Today, March 4, 2014, the City of Chula Vista received an Organizational Leadership Award from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Center for Corporate Climate Leadership for its reduction of Greenhouse Gas Emissions.\u00a0<\/strong>The City of Chula Vista, located in San Diego County, is approximately seven miles north of the US – Mexico border and home to Green Power Labs US based subsidiary.<\/p>\n

Chula Vista received the Award for the city’s goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 20% by 2020. The city government has already reduced its own emissions by over 19,000 metric tons per year, and by 2020 they hope to reduce the entire community’s emissions by over 145,000 metric tons per year.<\/p>\n

“While we are new residents of Chula Vista, we are quite proud of the city\u2019s adoption\u00a0 of 11 climate adaptation strategies that address the community’s vulnerabilities related to energy and water supplies, public health, wildfires, biodiversity, coastal resources, and the local economy,” said Alexandre Pavlovski, President and CEO of Green Power Labs.\u00a0 He added “the city\u2019s green building standards that set building energy efficiency requirements at 15-20 percent higher than state code will also support Chula Vista\u2019s ambitious 2020 emission reductions goal.”<\/p>\n

\u201cBy supporting the design of energy self-sufficient communities and delivering predictive analytics to allow for better management of building heating and cooling systems, we help communities achieve their sustainability goals\u201d said Pavlovski.\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cWe certainly applaud communities like Chula Vista who understand setting and achieving sustainability objectives attracts and retains citizens and creates opportunities for economic development in a rapidly changing environment.\u201d<\/p>\n

The award will be presented to Chula Vista in conjunction with the 2014 Climate Leadership Conference at the Hyatt Mission Bay Hotel in San Diego, California.<\/p>\n
