Dalhousie University Campus Assessment, NS, Canada

Project Description

Assessment of Potential Solar Energy Applications, Dalhousie University Campus.

As part of our solar energy study for Dalhousie University’s master planning process, Green Power Labs identified opportunities for retrofitting solar energy technologies at buildings on campus.

Two buildings were reviewed. We focused on opportunities for solar air heating to reduce building energy costs and improve indoor air quality, and solar water heating of domestic hot water. From reviews of the sites and operations records we determined the size and configuration of potential solar energy systems, energy saving, financial profiles and environmental benefits. Consistent with other studies, the assessment demonstrates the financial value of solar air heating systems in this region.
