Assessment of Distributed Solar Power Generation for Utility Market, Eastern North America

Project Description

This study identifies the available solar resource and solar power generation potential of roof-mounted photovoltaic (PV) systems on residential and commercial buildings in the client three service territories in eastern North America. The result of this analysis is a profile of monthly averages of daily energy that would be produced by complete deployment of distributed generation systems.

Ten points were elected for presentation of average monthly solar resource. The hourly average solar resource was also presented for each month at a representative location in each region. The report assessed the total area of roof surfaces suitable for PV deployment, the potential nameplate PV capacity of fully-deployed distributed generation solar power, and the potential power generation in each territory or region.
