“We are so pleased Bridgewater was selected as a winner from over 200 Canadian communities in Canada’s Smart Cities Challenge” commented Dr. Alexandre Pavlovski of Green Power Labs Inc. “Our team was very supportive of Bridgewater’s objective to lift its residents out of energy poverty by reducing the energy poverty rate by 20% by 2025” he added. As Bridgwater wants to ensure residents can live free of the constant threat of energy poverty, their program uses energy management as a smart city approach for resident empowerment. “Green Power Labs’ focus is centred on deployment of its connected technology solutions in predictive energy management to support achievement of Bridgewater’s targets. We are looking forward to working with Bridgewater to build this exciting energy future” Pavlovski concluded.
On May 14, 2019 the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Canada’s Minister of Infrastructure and Communities announced the four winners of the country’s first-ever Smart Cities Challenge, a pan-Canadian competition that encourages communities of all sizes to harness the potential of connected technology and data to improve the lives of Canadians. The winners will receive prizes worth a total of $75 million, which will be used to implement their visions over the next five years.
